Botanical Gardens: Golden Oak Environmental Award Ceremony

September 14, 2014 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Many of you have noticed the Garden’s statue of Alexander von Humboldt, the great German explorer who is credited with completing Mexico’s first botanical surveys in a modern scientific manner. Humboldt’s work is widely memorialized in Mexico in many ways, including his statue in Mexico City’s Alameda Central (Central Park) and the honorary citizenship bestowed to him by then-President Benito Juárez.

Each year the Garden celebrates the legacy of this important botanist and explorer on his birthday. This year we are pairing Alexander Von Humboldt’s birthday celebration with our annual Gold Oak Award Ceremony for modern-day environmental heroes serving the Cabo Corrientes, Puerto Vallarta, and Bahía de Banderas communities. Please share your award nominations by sending them to [email protected]
