6.1 earthquake off the coast of El Salvador does not generate tsunami threat

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 occurred Sunday afternoon off the Salvadoran coast, without generating threat of a tsunami, reported the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN).

The quake was recorded at 4:23 pm and the epicenter was located 90 kilometers southwest of Los Cobanos beach in Sonsonate, at a depth of 20 kilometers.

In the early hours of this day, another smaller earthquake was registered, 4.3, off the coast of the same area, 16 kilometers from the Metalío beach. That happened at 5:44 am at a depth of 53 kilometers. It . . .
