Invertebrate Adventures – My Marvelous Mexican Midlife Crisis

I am a recovering arachnophobe.  I don’t know when or how I became so terrified of spiders, but it was completely irrational.  I remember driving down a busy major artery in Calgary (Memorial Drive for those who are familiar with Calgary) and making my husband pull over to kill a spider that was no bigger than my thumbnail.  It was hanging from a web on the passenger window of our Honda Civic; I was in the passenger seat.  I couldn’t escape and I was nearly crawling out of my skin trying to pull myself away from the slowly . . .
