Hail storms possible throughout much of Mexico this weekend
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) predicted conditions for hail on Friday through Sunday in much of the country, except for the south and the Yucatan Peninsula.
The agency indicated that today the frontal system number 33 will be located on the north of the Gulf of Mexico, without affecting the country.
While two unstable zones will be located on the north and west of the national territory, generating strong winds with gusts above 60 kilometers per hour and possible sandstorms or whirlpools in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas.
They will also cause east-easterly winds in Campeche and Yucatan.
In addition, conditions for hail are expected in much of the country, except for the south and the Yucatan Peninsula.
As for the rains, very strong local storms are forecast in Tamaulipas.
Heavy storms in areas of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Estado de México, Hidalgo, Puebla and Veracruz.
Scattered rain showers in Zacatecas, Durango, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Michoacán, Colima, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Mexico City, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Oaxaca and Chiapas.
As well as drizzles in Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.
Strong winds are estimated with gusts exceeding 60 kilometers per hour and possible sandstorms or whirlwinds in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Campeche and Yucatan.
The SMN indicated that the interaction of a zone of instability in the Pacific Ocean and a cold and humid air system that will be located in the upper part of the atmosphere, is expected to generate hailstones during the weekend in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes.
And on Sunday in Guerrero, Guanajuato, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, State of México, Mexico City, Morelos and Veracruz.
