Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – A large-scale police operation conducted by the three levels of government led to an extensive search of the Ceinjure Costa Norte penitentiary facilities in Puerto Vallarta. The early morning raid, carried out in coordination with the Mexican Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), and the National Guard, resulted in the confiscation of illegal contraband and the transfer of five high-risk inmates.
According to the Jalisco Security Secretariat, the intervention was executed by the Strategic Operations Forces for Citizen Protection (FOEP) and the Penitentiary Police, with a deployment of 400 state personnel. The operation focused on inspecting the common areas and the 12 modules of the penitentiary center, located in the Ixtapa Delegation of Puerto Vallarta.

- One 9mm caliber firearm with 17 live cartridges
- One kilo and 100 grams of marijuana
- 400 grams of synthetic drugs resembling crystal meth
- Approximately 20 flat screens and televisions
- Controlled medication
- About 20 sharp objects and knives
The five inmates identified as generators of violence and deemed highly dangerous were relocated to the Sentenced Police Station within the Puente Grande Penitentiary Complex. The transferred inmates include:

- Sergio – Serving a 27-year sentence for qualified robbery
- Jonathan – Serving a 24-year sentence for qualified homicide
- José – Serving a 90-year sentence for homicide
- Francisco – Serving a 30-year sentence for disappearance

This intervention underscores ongoing efforts by the Jalisco government to maintain order within its penitentiary facilities and reduce organized criminal activities that extend beyond prison walls. Officials confirmed that similar operations will continue as part of a broader strategy to enhance safety in correctional centers across the state.
Local residents expressed relief at the results of the operation, underscoring the community’s concern over security threats emanating from the penitentiary system. The Jalisco Security Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the population and maintaining vigilance in the region.
