In Mexico, only one out of ten people with COVID-19 symptoms are tested. The Federal Statistics only include the public hospital system, coronavirus cases detected in private hospitals and laboratories are not reported by the Federal Government. The government acknowledges that the pandemic is more wide-spread than reported due to a lack of testing available in the country. Mexico remains one of the lowest testing countries in the world. A lack of confirmed cases should not allow tourists or residents to let down their guard. Please wear a mask and social distance.
