Navy Intervenes After Nude Man Seen on Guayabitos Beach

Rincón de Guayabitos, Nayarit, June 15, 2026 – Mexican Navy personnel intervened Sunday after a man was seen walking naked on the beach in Rincón de Guayabitos, a coastal town in the municipality of Compostela.

A video shared by a local Guayabitos community page showed the man on the sand as Navy personnel and beach workers approached, according to a local report on the incident.

The man was later turned over to the appropriate authorities. As of Monday, PVDN found no public statement from the Navy, Compostela municipal government, or Nayarit state authorities explaining what led to the incident.

Authorities have not explained the man’s condition

The video showed people giving the man a towel while naval personnel spoke with him. The same report said he later threw the towel to the ground.

What happened after the intervention remains unclear. Authorities have not said whether the case was handled as a public-order matter, a health concern, or both.

No agency has publicly identified the man. PVDN also found no official confirmation of a fine, an arrest, a medical evaluation, or a referral to social-assistance services.

Guayabitos is not listed as a nude beach

Rincón de Guayabitos sits on Jaltemba Bay, north of Puerto Vallarta and south of San Blas. The state tourism site describes Nayarit’s tourism as featuring a beach about 2 kilometers long.

The Riviera Nayarit tourism office also lists Guayabitos as part of the region’s visitor corridor, with hotels, bungalows, rental homes, condominiums, and RV parks in its destination guide.

Nayarit law gives municipalities civic authority

Nayarit’s civic justice law gives municipalities authority over public-order infractions. It also sets rules for taking a person before a civic judge when police witness an infraction or receive an immediate report tied to one.

The state’s Ley de Cultura y Justicia Cívica also allows a civic judge to request a medical exam if a person appears intoxicated or under the influence of substances.

The same law allows a judge to suspend proceedings and refer a person to health or social-assistance authorities if illness or intellectual disability is involved.

None of those outcomes has been confirmed in this case.
