Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum Expands Museum Nights

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, June 29, 2026 – The Museo Naval México in downtown Puerto Vallarta is adding after-hours cultural programming through SEMAR’s national Noche de Museos series, opening the waterfront museum at night with workshops, music, Navy displays and activities tied to Mexico’s maritime history.

The program gives the museum a second role beyond its regular daytime exhibits. On scheduled evenings, activities run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., after the museum’s normal Tuesday-Sunday hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum is located at Zaragoza 4 in Centro, near Los Arcos and the Malecón corridor. Its regular exhibits trace Mexico’s relationship with the sea through documents, cartography, photographs, models, uniforms and navigation instruments.

SEMAR lists Puerto Vallarta’s Noche de Museos as a last-Saturday-of-the-month cultural event at the local Naval Museum. That makes the program a recurring downtown cultural option, not only a one-time museum announcement.

If the monthly cadence holds, the next last Saturday falls on July 25, 2026. Specific performers and activities can change by edition, so the museum’s own channels remain the best place to confirm the final lineup.

Museum chief Claudia Dávila Ramírez described the goal as helping people “know part of the history of their country,” including the Navy’s role in Mexico’s past and present.

The evening program usually moves beyond standard museum viewing. Activities can include an Infantería de Marina stand, Navy canine teams, drawing workshops for children, personnel and training information, and a guest artist or musical group.

A previous edition drew about 360 attendees, including families and visitors, as covered in PVDN’s April report, Navy Museum Night Brings Families Into Vallarta History.

The museum has also been used this month for temporary cultural programming. In early June, it opened a SEMAR exhibit tracing the Navy’s connection to Mexico’s 1970 and 1986 World Cups, covered by PVDN in Naval Museum opens World Cup history exhibit in Vallarta.

The federal cultural registry lists the museum with about 700 square meters of exhibition space, around 150 collection pieces and interactive rooms covering naval history from early maritime routes to the modern Armada de México.

Its permanent collection includes material on expeditions through the Pacific, the Nao de China, the San Blas naval station and the early settlement that later became Puerto Vallarta.

Dávila also highlighted the navigation simulator as one of the museum’s strongest attractions. The simulator lets visitors experience the feel of operating a vessel through an immersive screen setup.

General admission is listed at 45 pesos for adults and 30 pesos for children. Entry is free for children under 6 and people with disabilities.

Event hours differ from the regular museum schedule. PVDN’s Puerto Vallarta Events Calendar also tracks cultural activities, concerts and community listings across the city.
