Cantidad de mexicanos que abandonan EEUU supera a los que entran

La cifra de mexicanos que salen de Estados Unidos es mayor a la de los que entran, según un informe del Centro de Investigación Pew, en momentos en que algunos políticos republicanos, incluido el precandidato presidencial Donald Trump, han adoptado una postura de línea dura contra la inmigración ilegal.

Desde 2009 al 2014, más de un millón de mexicanos y sus familias abandonaron Estados Unidos rumbo a México, mientras que más de 865.000 ingresaron en territorio estadounidense, dijo el jueves Pew. Las cifras incluyen a inmigrantes no autorizados.

Pew ha estado registrando los flujos migratorios desde hace unos 15 años, dijo Ana González-Barrera, una investigadora asociada que escribió el informe. Para su elaboración, Pew analizó datos gubernamentales de ambos países.

“Esta es la primera vez que tenemos evidencia y cifras reales de gente que está volviendo”, dijo la investigadora.

Según el informe, una creciente porción de mexicanos dice que la vida al norte de la frontera no es ni mejor ni peor que en México.

Por otra parte, el flujo general de inmigrantes mexicanos entre los dos países está en su nivel más bajo desde la década de 1990, indicó Pew en su reporte.

El informe se conoce después de que Trump pidió la deportación masiva de inmigrantes indocumentados, un plan que el presidente Barack Obama ha dicho que es poco realista y muy costoso.

Trump, un multimillonario con negocios inmobiliarios que está entre los candidatos que lideran la carrera hacia la nominación republicana para la elección presidencial del 2016, también declaró que hará que el Gobierno mexicano pague la construcción de un muro a lo largo de la frontera.

Más de 16 millones de mexicanos han migrado a Estados Unidos en los últimos 50 años, más que de cualquier otro país, dijo Pew.

Menos de un millón de mexicanos vivían en Estados Unidos en 1970, pero la cantidad de inmigrantes alcanzó un máximo a 12,8 millones en 2007, dijo Pew. El total bajó a 11,7 millones el año pasado.
