Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – In an operation by the Regional Special Prosecutor’s Office, the arrest of a subject with an arrest warrant for the commission of real estate fraud valued at $3.5 million pesos in Puerto Vallarta was achieved.
Investigative police officers from District VII managed to arrest Marco Antonio R., identified for committing fraud in the purchase and sale of an apartment located in Puerto Vallarta.
Based on the information provided, in January 2019, the subject allegedly offered to sell an apartment to a woman for $3.5 million pesos, or $191,000 dollars at today’s exchange rate. The victim allegedly made a deposit of $1.5 million pesos ($81,500 dollars) to the subject through a bank account but the property rights were never delivered.
The subject never deliver the property and the victim was able to obtain a refund of $700,000 pesos ($38,000 dollars), however, the victim filed a formal criminal complaint after failing to receive the remaining $800,000 pesos ($43,500 dollars) that was paid to the man charged with real estate fraud.
Through the criminal complaint and after the investigations, enough evidence was gathered against Marco Antonio R. for real estate fraud, for which the arrest warrant was requested against him in Puerto Vallarta.
Agents of the Investigative Police detained him in the Marina Vallarta neighborhood, for which he was presented before the Control Judge for arraignment.
