While the World Health Organization has declared the coronavirus pandemic over in Puerto Vallarta, new infection cases are emerging, particularly within the municipal government. This development was shared by Dr. Salvador Flores Navarro, the head of municipal medical services.
He disclosed that there are currently four new cases. “Although the numbers are small, it’s enough to put us on alert. We have identified two cases in Public Works, one in Public Safety, and another in a different department. These cases emerged within the last day,” he reported.
In response to these developments, Covid tests are being administered free of charge at the Medical Services facilities, and appropriate measures are being implemented.
“We’ve started taking precautions in various locations, providing guidance and treatment,” Dr. Navarro added.
He emphasized that the current situation is not alarming compared to the peak of the pandemic, when up to 400 infections were reported within the government.
“We should not be overly concerned. During the peak of the pandemic, we had 400 cases. Occasionally, new cases begin to emerge, and we seize this opportunity to urge department heads to send anyone showing symptoms to us,” he stated.
Dr. Navarro also extended an invitation to the entire population, encouraging those who are experiencing symptoms to visit the Municipal Medical Services for a free test.
It’s worth noting that since the onset of the pandemic until May 16, Puerto Vallarta has reported a total of 35,498 infections.
