PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – The much-anticipated program for the Puerto Vallarta International Film Festival 2023 (FICPV), slated for June 8-11, was unveiled recently. The festival, organized by the Centro Universitario de la Costa, is an extension of the renowned Guadalajara International Film Festival of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).
Opening the festival will be a screening of the film “La Pecera” (2023), helmed by director Glorimar Marrero-Sánchez. Also on the docket is the screening of the classic film “La Mujer de Benjamín” (1991) as part of a tribute to celebrated actress Arcelia Ramírez.
“Redes: Juegos de la Vida” (2023), another film set for screening during the festival, will be attended by its director César Arechiga. The festival will conclude with a showing of “Martínez” (2023), featuring director Lorena Padilla and actress Martha Claudia Moreno, according to Mtra. Ana Elena Martín del Campo, the festival’s general coordinator.
The academic secretary, José Luis Cornejo, predicts the success of the festival, which will honor Raúl Padilla López.
In a show of solidarity and support for civil organizations, FICPV, in collaboration with the Fundación Universidad de Guadalajara AC, announces a fundraising gala for the Los Mangos Library Cultural Center. All box office donations will go directly to the center. The gala will feature a screening of “Almamula” (2023), attended by its director Juan Sebastián Torales.
As part of the tenth edition of the Maguey Award, the festival will screen “Kenya” (2022) and “El Castillo” (2023), with director Gisela Delgadillo and director Martín Benchimol present as special guests, respectively.
The FICPV reaffirms its connection with the Guadalajara International Film Festival through a selection of short film screenings. On the academic front, renowned Mexican director and cinematographer Olivia Luengas will deliver a Master Class titled “Approach to Documentary Film.”
Festival-goers can expect a diverse and engaging program at various venues throughout Puerto Vallarta. This 23rd edition of FICPV promises to be an exciting celebration of cinema that both film enthusiasts and industry professionals will not want to miss.
