PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – A suspect, Miguel Ángel R., has been detained in connection with the murder of Rubén Michel Castro Guízar, a resident of Puerto Vallarta and member of the LGBTIQ community.
Castro Guízar, whose body was discovered buried in a vacant lot on 18 de Marzo Street in the 12 de Octubre neighborhood on June 5, had attended a Pride March just days before his mysterious disappearance on May 25.
According to an autopsy report, Castro Guízar died from third-degree head trauma. The suspect, Miguel Ángel R., who was Castro Guízar’s neighbor and worked as a security guard at a local hotel, was apprehended by the VIII District Investigation Police.
The Special Regional Prosecutor for District VIII in Puerto Vallarta swiftly acted following the discovery of Castro Guízar’s body, launching an investigation that led to Miguel Ángel R. Information gathered throughout the proceedings allowed investigators to establish a potential link between Miguel Ángel R. and Castro Guízar’s tragic demise.
With sufficient evidence, the agent of the Public Ministry requested an arrest warrant for Miguel Ángel R. on charges of qualified homicide, with the aggravating circumstances of premeditation and advantage. The warrant was issued and served, leading to the arrest of Miguel Ángel R. on the Puerto Vallarta – Las Palmas highway in the Santo Domingo neighborhood, preventing any potential escape.
Miguel Ángel R. is currently being held in custody and will be presented to the Control Judge, who will determine his legal fate during the constitutional term.
