Puerto Vallarta Ranks Among Top Thanksgiving Destinations for Americans

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – For the fourth consecutive year, Puerto Vallarta has secured its spot as one of the top three international destinations for American travelers during the Thanksgiving holiday. According to a recent analysis by Allianz Partners USA of over 750,000 travel itineraries, the Mexican resort city continues to attract visitors looking to swap chilly autumn temperatures for sunny beaches and refreshing beverages.

The study reviewed flights departing from U.S. airports between November 23 and 28, with returns scheduled from November 29 to December 3. Consistent with the past four years, Mexico’s famed trio—Cancun, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta—dominated the top three spots in the international rankings.

While Mexico remains a favorite, Americans are also venturing across the Atlantic to enjoy the festive atmosphere of European capitals. London climbed to fourth place, and Paris secured the sixth spot on the list. The Bahamas’ Nassau made a notable jump, rising two places from last year to claim fifth place.

Caribbean destinations continue to be popular for those seeking a tropical escape. Montego Bay in Jamaica, despite dropping three places, holds the eighth position. Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is ranked seventh, and Oranjestad in Aruba comes in at ninth, both renowned for their crystal-clear waters and idyllic beaches.

Making a significant return after a five-year hiatus, Mexico City has re-entered the top ten, capturing the tenth spot among international destinations.

“Holiday travel is back, and airports are gearing up for the busiest time of the year, with Thanksgiving as the kickoff,” said Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners. “Don’t let the excitement of the season keep you from being prepared for potential travel disruptions. A travel protection plan can reimburse prepaid and non-refundable costs associated with a range of covered unexpected events, such as trip cancellations or interruptions, extended travel delays, lost luggage, and even medical emergencies.”

Allianz Partners offers travel protection plans through most major U.S. airlines, leading travel agencies, online travel platforms, hotel companies, cruise lines, and directly to consumers, aiming to provide peace of mind for travelers during the bustling holiday season.
