The latest data, which corresponds to epidemiological week 44 (October 27 to November 2), underscores the persistence of the outbreak in the area, with Puerto Vallarta remaining the most affected municipality.
Puerto Vallarta saw an increase from 540 to 594 cases, maintaining its position as the municipality with the highest number of confirmed infections in the region and ranking among the municipalities with the highest incidence in Jalisco. Nearby municipalities also reported increases: Talpa de Allende rose from 51 to 58 cases, Tomatlán from 48 to 57, Cabo Corrientes from 20 to 22, and Mascota from 11 to 14. San Sebastián del Oeste remains at three reported cases, without any new additions this week.
The statewide situation reflects a concerning trend, with Jalisco now reporting a cumulative total of 14,732 dengue cases following the addition of 1,600 new cases in the most recent weekly count. Of these, 701 cases were classified as non-severe, bringing the year’s total to 7,672; 832 cases were categorized as dengue with warning signs, totaling 6,504; and 67 cases were severe, pushing the severe case count to 556. The state has recorded five fatalities linked to dengue this year.
The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, which includes municipalities such as Guadalajara, Zapopan, and Tlaquepaque, continues to record the highest number of cases in Jalisco. However, the increase in cases in Puerto Vallarta and its neighboring municipalities is drawing significant attention from health authorities, who are urging residents to take precautions to prevent mosquito breeding in their homes and communities.
Health officials are reinforcing efforts to control mosquito populations and advise residents to use protective measures, such as wearing long sleeves and pants, using insect repellent, and keeping their surroundings free of standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
