Reports Some People in Puerto Vallarta Felt Earthquake Today

A moderate earthquake has struck off Mexico's central Pacific coast, with no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the morning quake had a magnitude of 5.2 and was centered about 86 kilometres southwest of the town of Tomatlan. Its depth was about 40 kilometres.

Civil Protection officials in Jalisco state say Thursday's temblor was felt lightly in more than 33 municipalities, including the beach resort of Puerto Vallarta.
