Ajijic Sacred Heart Festivities Set for La Canacinta

Ajijic Sacred Heart Festivities Set for La Canacinta

Ajijic’s La Canacinta neighborhood will host the traditional Sagrado Corazón de Jesús festivities from Wednesday, June 10, through Friday, June 12.

The three-day celebration includes religious activities, processions, live music, food sales, and the traditional burning of toritos, according to an event notice shared by organizers.

The festivities will take place in La Canacinta, on the west side of Ajijic. People moving through that part of town should expect more foot traffic, music, and fireworks activity during the celebration.

The Sagrado Corazón de Jesús celebration is one of the neighborhood-level religious and cultural events that still shape community life around Lake Chapala. It is not a large commercial festival, but a local gathering built around faith, food, music, and shared public space.

The burning of toritos is a traditional fireworks display often seen during patron saint and religious celebrations in Mexico. Anyone attending with children, pets, or sensitivity to loud noise should plan around the pyrotechnics and keep a safe distance during the display.

Ajijic is recognized as a Pueblo Mágico on the shore of Lake Chapala, with Jalisco tourism materials highlighting its cobblestone streets, murals, galleries, food, and lakeside setting.

Recent Ajijic and Chapala events coverage has shown a busy stretch for the lakeside communities, where local festivals, public performances, and neighborhood celebrations continue to fill the calendar.

The La Canacinta festivities begin June 10 and continue through June 12.
