Alleged Thief in Puerto Vallarta Killed by Police Officer Following Assault After Chase

In a dramatic turn of events on Federal Highway 200 in the Las Juntas district, an alleged thief met a fatal end after an encounter with law enforcement. The individual, believed to be a young man around 22 years old, succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident, which involved a chase and a subsequent shooting by a police officer.

According to reports, the sequence of events unfolded following an assault in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood, where the alleged thief, accompanied by two other individuals, reportedly robbed a person of money and jewelry. Following the reported incident, law enforcement initiated a search for the suspects who had fled the scene on a black motorcycle.

The pursuit led authorities to intercept the motorcycle, prompting a chase that traversed the main avenues of the city before reaching Federal Highway 200. In a decisive moment, a patrol car managed to block the path of the motorcycle, causing it to skid and the rider to fall.

As the individual attempted to flee on foot, it’s reported that they brandished a firearm. In response, a police officer drew their own weapon and fired, striking the alleged thief in the leg. Tragically, the bullet struck a vital artery, leading to rapid and fatal bleeding.

The identity of the deceased remains undisclosed at this time, as does the whereabouts of the other two individuals allegedly involved in the assault. Additionally, details regarding the police officer involved in the shooting have not been disclosed.

Following the incident, reinforcements from law enforcement agencies, including experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Jalisciense Institute of Forensic Sciences, arrived at the scene to conduct investigations into the circumstances surrounding the altercation.

The incident has sparked inquiries into the use of force by law enforcement officials and raises questions about the protocols surrounding such encounters. Authorities continue to investigate the matter as they work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal confrontation on Federal Highway 200.
