Bucerías, Nayarit, June 23, 2026 — Bahía de Banderas police detained a man identified as Durán “N” after reports of beach thefts targeting tourists in Bucerías.

The arrest was confirmed by municipal public-safety authorities and reported by Tribuna de la Bahía. Police said the case involves belongings allegedly taken from tourists on the beach.

Authorities asked anyone who recognizes the suspect or may have been affected by similar thefts to report it to 911. Nayarit’s 089 anonymous-report line is also available for people who want to share information without giving their name.

Arrest follows beach theft complaints

Police identified the detained man only as Durán “N,” the form commonly used in Mexico while a case remains under investigation.

Municipal public-safety officials said the arrest came after patrol work in Bucerías. They did not say how many complaints may be linked to the case, whether stolen items were recovered, or whether the matter has been formally turned over to prosecutors.
