Area resort is first cardiac-protected certified in Latin America

In an effort to increase safeness and security to all of its guests and staff, the AAA Five-Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is proud to announce that it has become the first cardiac-protected certified resort in Latin America. ACTUM Vital Solutions and Safecare, both of Guadalajara, were responsible for carrying out all the theoretical and practical training of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) programs at the resort.

In order to obtain the accreditation, the entire staff underwent extensive training for the prevention of deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, inclusive of the protocol for providing assistance in a timely and effective manner. In their training, the employees were instructed in the “chain of survival” strategy implemented by AHA, which can improve chances of survival and recovery for victims of heart attack and stroke. In addition, now 78 staff members are specialized in the usage of defibrillators, which are strategically located throughout the resort in the event of a medical emergency.

The AHA has long served as the leading U.S. resource for workplace for Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), CPR and AED training, but in recent years has expanded its training network to share lifesaving ECC expertise worldwide.
