Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, July 21, 2026 — A Canadian woman was found dehydrated and disoriented Monday morning on Calle Pino near Caoba in the Arboledas neighborhood, prompting police and paramedics to arrange protective assistance while trying to determine who she was and how she arrived there.
Neighbors contacted emergency services after seeing the woman wandering alone through the neighborhood and showing signs of exhaustion. Police later found her seated outside a home.
Paramedics with Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection and Fire Department provided prehospital attention and began rehydrating her at the scene. They found no visible injuries or condition considered an immediate threat to her life, but her confusion made leaving her alone unsafe.
The woman reportedly identified herself as Canadian and estimated her age at approximately 52. She told officers that someone had abandoned her there, although she could not explain who had left her, how long she had been in Arboledas, where she had been staying, or what had happened before neighbors noticed her.
Her account of being abandoned had not been independently confirmed.
Municipal police initially requested support from Patrulla Rosa, a police unit that responds to cases involving vulnerable women. Personnel assigned to the unit were handling other calls and could not immediately reach the scene.
Another municipal police unit contacted its operations base and requested assistance through Puerto Vallarta’s DIF social services system. At approximately 11 a.m., officers were still waiting to learn which agency would assume responsibility. Police completed an Informe Policial Homologado and an administrative report documenting where she was found, her condition and the assistance provided.
No public follow-up from municipal police or DIF had clarified her status by Tuesday morning.
Because the woman identified herself as Canadian, police were also in contact with the Canadian Consular Agency in Puerto Vallarta.
