Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Get ready to dust off your dancing shoes and relive the golden era of Puerto Vallarta’s nightlife — “Disco Night 80’s 90’s” is back this Sunday, May 4, at Lázaro Cárdenas Plaza, better known as Parque de los Azulejos, in the heart of the Romantic Zone.
From 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the plaza will transform into an open-air dance floor as local DJs take the stage to spin vintage tracks from the golden days of disco, new wave, house, and pop. The event, organized by a passionate collective of Puerto Vallarta disc jockeys, is now in its fifth edition and continues to blend nostalgia, community, and philanthropy.
This free-to-attend celebration encourages voluntary donations, which will benefit Vallarta Cares, a local non-profit organization that provides meals to those in need.
DJs Enrique Peña and Guadalupe Barragán, two of the event’s founders, expressed their excitement about the upcoming night, emphasizing the event’s dual purpose: “It’s about bringing old friends back together in a familiar, family-friendly setting where everyone can share in the joy of music and give back to the community.”
“Disco Night 80’s 90’s” takes place twice a year and serves as a tribute to the vibrant nightlife that defined Vallarta in the 1980s and 1990s. During that era, iconic clubs such as Carlos O’Brians, La Onda, City Dump, Sundance, and Ciros were the pulsating heart of the city’s social scene. The organizers aim to preserve that magical spirit while adding a charitable twist.
This edition promises an authentic throwback experience: DJs will perform using original vinyl records and classic turntables. The line-up features some of the city’s most beloved old-school talent, including DJ Marco Rojas, DJ Marco Alarcón, DJ Watussy, DJ Btch, DJ Gil, DJ Óscar Bolaños, DJ Willy, DJ Jackson, and more surprise guests.
Whether you’re a long-time resident who remembers the glory days of Vallarta’s club scene or a newcomer curious about the city’s musical legacy, Sunday’s event promises a night of dance, memories, and community connection — all for a good cause.
