Bucerías, Nayarit, August 17, 2026 – A man was taken to a hospital in serious condition after being shot at least five times while standing at a bus stop outside the CFE facilities in central Bucerías late Saturday night.
The attack was reported shortly after 11 p.m. on August 15. Noticias de la Bahía reported that the shots were fired from a vehicle, but no description of the vehicle or the number of people inside it was made public.
Paramedics found the man on the ground and transported him to a hospital in Tondoroque. A separate local report said preliminary information indicated that three bullets struck his abdomen and two struck his legs. His identity was not disclosed.
Municipal and state police responded alongside personnel from the Nayarit Attorney General’s Criminal Investigation Agency and the Mexican Army. Investigators secured the area outside the CFE facilities while forensic personnel collected evidence.
An early claim that a dispute may have preceded the shooting had not been confirmed. No witness account, suspect description or possible motive had been released by Monday morning.
The Nayarit Attorney General’s Office had not published a case update identifying the victim, announcing an arrest or reporting a change in his condition by publication time.
The attack occurred amid reinforced security operations in Bahía de Banderas and Compostela announced earlier this month after separate violence elsewhere in Nayarit. Authorities have not reported any connection between those incidents and the Bucerías shooting.
