PUERTO VALLARTA, Jalisco, Sept. 14, 2026 — La Cruz Bakery will open a downtown branch Sept. 15 at 7 a.m. at Morelos 883-B in Centro.
Our review of the bakery’s public opening announcement confirmed the address and schedule. “On Sept. 15, we officially open the doors,” the operators wrote in Spanish.
A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 7 p.m. The shop said it will offer bread, coffee and breakfast.
Direct impact in Centro
For residents, downtown workers and visitors, the opening adds an early-morning food option on Calle Morelos.
The evening ceremony overlaps with Puerto Vallarta’s Independence Day program. The city’s Fiestas Patrias celebration begins at 8 p.m. in Plaza de Armas, one hour after the ribbon-cutting. The Grito de Independencia and fireworks are scheduled later that night.
The branch is also opening during a difficult period for merchants in Puerto Vallarta’s tourist core. Coparmex Vallarta reported more than 35 business closures in Centro and the Romantic Zone since late May.
The employers group cited high rents, rising operating costs, and weaker consumer spending among the pressures facing businesses in those neighborhoods.
Expansion from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
La Cruz Bakery began as a family business in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit. A July profile of the bakery reported that Jazmín Bernal and her family established the operation after returning to Mexico and closing an earlier café in the United States.
Bernal, known online as Jazmín MDFKR, has promoted the bakery alongside her family’s hamburger business in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.
The Puerto Vallarta opening was preceded by a media preview at the Morelos storefront on Sept. 12.
The new branch will begin serving customers at 7 a.m. Sept. 15. The 7 p.m. ribbon-cutting will take place at the same Morelos 883-B location.
