Public Transport Bus Overturns in Puerto Vallarta, Leaving 11 Injured, and Driver Flees Scene

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a distressing incident, a passenger bus overturned on State Highway 544 in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, resulting in injuries to 11 people. The bus, operated by UnibusPV, was en route from Puerto Vallarta to the Las Palmas district when the accident occurred.

The incident took place at approximately kilometer 71, near the local shooting range. The bus collided with a containment barrier, leading to a loss of control. Subsequently, as the vehicle crossed a small bridge, it struck another metal bar, which became embedded in the bus. The force of the collision caused the bus to overturn and come to a halt on the asphalt.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene. Rescue personnel from the Red Cross, along with municipal and state Civil Protection teams, arrived to assist the injured passengers. Thankfully, all individuals sustained only minor injuries that did not pose a threat to their lives. Consequently, none of the injured were transported to the hospital.

The driver of the bus remains unaccounted for, having apparently fled the scene following the accident. Passengers managed to escape the overturned vehicle through the vents and the shattered windshield, which was completely destroyed in the crash.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and the driver’s disappearance. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
