Puerto Vallarta – Colima highway closed for four hours in landslide

Civil Protection reported that the Vallarta-Colima highway was closed for several hours due to a landslide brought on by heavy rains.

The landslide occurred at around 4 AM Thursday morning near the town of Mismaloya south of Puerto Vallarta.

Public Works brought in the equipment needed to clear the highway and restored flow by 7 AM.

Sergio Ramirez, head of Municipal Civil Protection, reported that transit staff was in place to inform motorists of the road closing and ongoing updates. He also noted that the state and federal government were working closely to address the issue as federal highway.

The Vallarta-Colima highway, or HWY 200, is a major route for goods between Colima and Puerto Vallarta, as well as the route to access many popular spas and resorts on the South Shore of Puerto Vallarta and  Costa Alegre.
