The festival was established in Guadalajara in 1998 to honor contemporary dancer and choreographer, Onésimo González, born in Monterrey in 1935.
The International Onésimo González Contemporary Dance Festival took an international turn becoming the only contemporary dance event of its kind carried out in the state of Jalisco.
