Puerto Vallarta’s municipal government announced that, on Saturday, May 31, public transportation and private vehicles heading into the city center will face temporary route changes to accommodate anniversary events. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., buses will be diverted onto Perú Street at its intersection with Panamá Street, while Morelos Street at Corona Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1:30 p.m. onward.
The detours support a solemn City Council session, ceremonial cake cutting, and performances by local artists and dance groups at the Aquiles Serdán Open Air Theater and along the Malecón. These activities mark the 107th anniversary of Puerto Vallarta’s establishment as a municipality and its 57th anniversary as a city.
Drivers affected by the Morelos Street closure are instructed to turn onto Corona Street northbound, then proceed along Juárez Street—which will operate as a two-way corridor up to Guerrero Street—and may continue toward Morelos via Guerrero Street. Commuters and residents are urged to plan alternate routes and heed municipal signage and traffic personnel to ensure smooth passage during the festivities.
