Tanto por vía aérea como marítima se ha incrementado ya la llegada de turistas extranjeros a Puerto Vallarta. Un recorrido por el aeropuerto y una visita a la Administración Portuaria Integral lo confirman, y la mejor prueba de ello es el movimiento de visitantes internacionales que se observa por las tardes y noches en las zonas de restaurantes de las colonia Emiliano Zapata, la Marina y el Malecón.
El fin de semana pasado, penúltimo del mes de Noviembre, el intenso flujo de visitantes fue notorio en las instalaciones de la terminal aérea, donde los representantes de las principales aerolíneas internacionales refieren un incremento de entre el 10 y el 20 por ciento en el número de pasajeros que han trasladado a esta región.
Tan sólo el sábado, llegaron más de 45 vuelos internacionales al aeropuerto de la ciudad, un 10 por ciento más que en sábados anteriores de acuerdo a las cifras de los agentes de viajes consultados en ese lugar.
El administrador del Aeropuerto Internacional, Francisco Villaseñor Reyes, confirmó el inicio de la temporada alta con el incremento en el porcentaje de ocupación de las principales aerolíneas norteamericanas y canadienses, que en la segunda quincena del mes han elevado sus cifras de un 60 hasta un 80 por ciento de asientos ocupados en sus aeronaves.
El directivo aéreo consideró que el tradicional aumento de pasajeros y vuelos de la temporada alta se adelantó algunos días, y lo atribuyó a varias causas centradas en la recuperación de la economía norteamericana y a las intensas campañas de promoción que ha emprendido a lo largo del año las autoridades de turismo tanto de Puerto Vallarta como de la Riviera Nayarit.
Los vuelos de aerolíneas norteamericanas como Alaska Airlines, Delta y Southwest provienen de una docena de ciudades de los Estados Unidos, principalmente de Los Ángeles, Santa Ana, Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver y Seattle. En muchas de estas regiones a lo largo del año se han realizado caravanas promocionales por parte del Fideicomiso de Turismo.
En cuanto a los vuelos de aerolíneas canadienses como Air Canada, Transat y Sunwing se originan en las tres principales ciudades emisoras de visitantes como Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto y Montreal, ciudades también visitadas este año con la promoción conjunta Vallarta-Nayarit.
Mientras tanto en la Administración Portuaria Integral este lunes se tuvo un doble arribo de cruceros: el Veendam con 1, 266 personas a bordo y el Infinity con 2, 499 personas, con lo que abre una semana en la que se tendrán cinco llegadas: el martes arriba el Crown Princess; el miércoles, el Carnival Miracle; y el jueves el Norwegian Jewel.
En total en noviembre habrán llegado 17 cruceros en total, incluyendo 4 Princess, 4 Carnival, 4 Norwegian, 3 Holland America y 2 de Celebrity.
