Puerto Vallarta’s Security Measures Strengthened for 2024 Summer Vacation Period

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco — In anticipation of the busy summer vacation period, the General Directorate of Citizen Security of Puerto Vallarta has enhanced its security operations across the city, ensuring both residents and tourists can enjoy a safe and secure environment.

Commissioner Rigoberto Flores Parra outlined the extensive measures in place, emphasizing the deployment of uniformed officers throughout the municipality. “We have an operation set up for the summer vacation period,” Flores Parra stated. “We have deployed operational personnel, traffic, all prevention areas, tactical group and search for people throughout the municipality.”

The security efforts are not limited to the popular beach areas but extend to the city’s neighborhoods as well. Commissioner Flores Parra assured the public that both daytime and nighttime operations will be maintained by the Municipal Police and Municipal Traffic units. “The operation does not neglect the city’s neighborhoods,” he added, highlighting the comprehensive approach to maintaining order and safety.

A key component of the summer operation is the continuation of the life-saving breathalyzer checks, conducted randomly to prevent accidents related to alcohol consumption. “We will continue the life-saving operation, the famous breathalyzer, in a random manner to prevent any type of accident,” emphasized Flores Parra.

The Commissioner also issued a call to action for residents to take preventive security measures when leaving for vacation. He urged locals to secure their homes to prevent thefts. “Neighbors who are leaving the port are asked to notify a family member or someone close to them who will be watching over their home,” he advised, stressing the importance of community vigilance.

Additionally, Flores Parra provided specific advice to tourists and locals to avoid risky situations, particularly concerning vehicle safety. “Avoid leaving objects visible inside your vehicles to prevent so-called ‘window smashing,'” he cautioned.
