Jalisco health authorities have added Puerto Vallarta’s airport and maritime port to a reinforced disease surveillance plan tied to World Cup travel.
The measure covers Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport and the cruise terminal. Both are entry points for international passengers, crew members, and cruise traffic.
Health personnel are monitoring for fever, respiratory symptoms, and recent travel associated with disease alerts. If a suspected case is detected, the state says its health protocol would be activated.
Puerto Vallarta entry points added to the watch
The Puerto Vallarta airport and maritime port were included with Guadalajara’s airport in the state plan. The World Cup health-risk strategy involves federal, state, and municipal authorities, as well as private hospitals and health agencies.
Travelers could notice more health staff at the airport or around cruise operations. At PVR, checks may involve medical reports or attention to passengers who appear ill. At the maritime port, the first review can occur before a ship docks, through the sanitary manifest sent in advance of arrival.
Puerto Vallarta saw a similar entry-point watch in May after hantavirus alerts. Jaime Álvarez Zayas said Sanidad Internacional staff were placed at both gateways. “We are alert,” he said at the time, referring to health filters at the city’s airport and maritime port in earlier local health-surveillance coverage.
Measles, dengue and respiratory illness remain on the list
Jalisco’s plan also includes vaccine work, dengue control, and monitoring of respiratory illness. Guadalajara is the World Cup host city, but Puerto Vallarta remains part of the same travel network through its airport, cruise terminal, hotels, and highway connections.
State health officials said Línea Salud Jalisco will provide medical guidance at 33 3823 3220. During the World Cup, the service is expected to provide English-language support from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Passengers using PVR should keep travel and health documents readily accessible, especially after international connections. Anyone feeling sick after arrival should avoid waiting in crowded areas and seek medical guidance.
