Three Young People Injured in Rollover Accident on Malecon in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – June 24, 2024 – A severe rollover accident occurred early Monday morning on Morelos Street, between Mina and Galeana, near the lighthouse on the Malecón in Puerto Vallarta. A gray Ford Explorer Sport Trac, driven by a young man believed to be under the influence of alcohol, lost control at high speed on the wet cobblestone street, crashing into a planter and flipping onto its side.

Emergency services, including Civil Protection and Firefighters, arrived swiftly at the scene. The three young people, aged between 20 and 25, were rescued through the vehicle’s sunroof by firefighters. They sustained minor injuries and received medical attention on-site. The municipal traffic police took charge of the incident, which fortunately resulted in only material damages.

Additional details revealed that the young driver, who was reportedly driving recklessly and under the influence, lost control of the vehicle after accelerating on the slippery surface. The two passengers, also young individuals, did not require hospitalization but were treated for their injuries on-site. Authorities noted significant damage to the planter and nearby structures.
