Timeshare in Puerto Vallarta Continues to Grow

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In an exclusive interview, María de Lourdes Ayala Ochoa, President of the Association of Timeshare Tourist Developers and Promoters (Adeprotur) of Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, discussed the future of the timeshare industry, emphasizing the importance of innovation and aligning offerings with member preferences as the sector moves towards 2030.

Ayala Ochoa expressed optimism about the industry’s trajectory, citing a positive path marked by increased activity. While specific figures were not disclosed, she hinted at an upcoming national event in July where the sector’s objectives will be outlined in detail.

Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas have experienced significant tourist growth, evidenced by a rising influx of visitors. However, Ayala Ochoa cautioned against the strain this growth imposes on public services such as drinking water, roads, and mobility. Despite Puerto Vallarta being regarded as one of the country’s safest cities, she emphasized the need for government modernization efforts and a clear plan to address infrastructure and security concerns.

Regarding the completion of the short highway from Guadalajara, Ayala Ochoa noted that while it may not significantly impact the timeshare market directly, it will benefit service providers and pose challenges for the municipality in managing increased tourism flow.

The recent 29th Puerto Vallarta – Riviera Nayarit Gala, held at the International Convention Center, held significance for the timeshare industry, as it facilitated negotiations with hotels and contributed to the positioning of destination wholesalers, further strengthening the ties between timeshare businesses and local stakeholders.

As the industry looks ahead, the focus remains on innovation, adaptation to member needs, and collaboration with local authorities to navigate the challenges posed by tourism growth in Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas.
