PUERTO VALLARTA, JALISCO – In a swift and surreptitious heist, thieves made off with two of the five automated teller machines (ATMs) from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) offices located in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, went unnoticed until security alarms rang around 5:30 a.m.
According to initial reports, private security personnel responded to the alarm but did not observe any suspicious activity upon arrival. Investigators say the thieves likely entered through a rear access point, circumventing surveillance cameras stationed at the front of the building.
“When our team arrived, they saw nothing out of place,” said one security spokesperson. “It appears the suspects managed to slip in from behind the facility, avoiding cameras and leaving no obvious evidence of their presence.”
Police who later inspected the scene discovered that the building’s security camera feed had been compromised; the monitors showed only a blank screen. Authorities believe this deliberate tampering allowed the robbers to remove two ATMs without leaving any recorded footage.
No injuries have been reported. The remaining three ATMs in the facility were untouched. Local authorities are working closely with CFE officials to gather further evidence, including any potential witness statements from nearby residents or passersby.
Police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the appropriate authorities. Investigators are reviewing any available neighborhood surveillance footage in the hope of identifying the individuals responsible for the theft.
