Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, October 23, 2026 – Orquesta Sinfónica Vallarta will perform Day of the Dead concerts on October 30 in Marina Vallarta and October 31 in Bahía de Banderas.
The orchestra will join the University of Brasília Choir and Poder Coral for a program combining Mexican and Brazilian music before closing with John Rutter’s Requiem. Both performances carry the same advertised repertoire, giving residents a choice of location and starting time.
According to the Instituto de Artes Musicales de Puerto Vallarta’s concert, the schedule is:
- Friday, October 30, at 9 p.m. at Iglesia María Reina de la Paz, Calle Albatros 270, Marina Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta.
- Saturday, October 31, at 7 p.m. at Auditorio Haramara, Universidad Tecnológica de Bahía de Banderas, or UTBB, Boulevard Nuevo Vallarta 65, Nuevo Nayarit, Nayarit.
For anyone deciding which evening fits their holiday plans, the practical differences are the venue, the journey, and the later start in Marina Vallarta.
The Marina Vallarta ticket page and Nuevo Nayarit ticket page each displayed prices ranging from 158.61 to 421.23 pesos when checked on October 23. Buyers should review the available ticket categories and final total before paying.
The listings do not detail accessibility arrangements. Anyone who needs step-free access or seating assistance should confirm those arrangements with IAMPV before booking.
Aquiles Morales and Éder Camúzis will conduct the concerts, with sopranos Gabriela Ramos, Sarah Joy and Mari Gomes participating.
The advertised program begins with Brazilian choral music by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Camúzis, alongside works by Ola Gjeilo and Michael John Trotta. Mexican selections include Silvestre Revueltas’s Janitzio and Macedonio Alcalá’s Dios nunca muere. Antonín Dvořák’s music also appears on the program.
Rutter’s Requiem gives the evening a direct connection to remembrance. The composer’s published program notes describe its seven sections as a “meditation on the themes of life and death.” Written in 1985, the work draws on texts from the Requiem Mass and the Book of Common Prayer.
Both concerts precede the November 1 monumental Catrina unveiling and November 2 parade included in Vallarta Daily’s Day of the Dead calendar, allowing residents to schedule a concert on an evening different from those downtown events.
For dinner reservations and the trip home, allow for the scheduled finish: Friday’s church performance is listed to end at 11 p.m., while Saturday’s university concert is scheduled to finish at 9 p.m.
