PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO—The Xiutla municipal folklore group, founded by Professor Enrique Barrios y Limón, is proud to celebrate 31 years of uninterrupted activities sharing the vibrant traditions of Mexican dance and music. Since its establishment, Xiutla—whose name comes from the Nahuatl word meaning “place where grass grows”—has become an iconic cultural ambassador for Puerto Vallarta, performing more than 3,700 shows across Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
To mark this significant anniversary, Xiutla will host a special dinner show on Thursday, March 20 at 6:00 p.m. on the esplanade of the Vallartense Institute of Culture, located on the eastern end of the island in the Cuale River. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Xiutla municipal folklore group. A donation of $500 pesos per person is requested to enjoy an evening of music, dance, and heritage.
Over the past 31 years, Xiutla has successfully showcased Puerto Vallarta’s cultural richness in more than 40 international tours. With its mission rooted in preserving and spreading traditional Mexican folk arts, Xiutla stands as a testament to the passion and dedication of local artists committed to passing on the country’s ancestral legacy to future generations.
For more information or to reserve seats for the anniversary celebration, interested supporters are encouraged to contact the Vallartense Institute of Culture. Come celebrate Xiutla’s continuing journey of artistic excellence and help support the cultural heartbeat of Puerto Vallarta.
