Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – Following a disruptive six-hour demonstration that caused traffic congestion and inconvenienced thousands of residents and tourists, the Peaceful Civil Resistance (RCP) group wrapped up their protests against vehicular emissions tests on Tuesday. However, they vowed to return and continue their disruptive demonstrations in the city in the future.
The protests occurred in Puerto Vallarta. Meanwhile, in Guadalajara, different groups opposing the new emissions law were engaging in discussions with Jalisco Government representatives. Nevertheless, the more hardline protestors in Puerto Vallarta declared that they were not interested in dialogues or negotiations. They insisted on an unconditional termination of emissions testing in the city. Until this demand is met, they pledge to continue causing disruptions for locals commuting to work and tourists attempting to reach the airport.
This demonstration marked the fourth instance in which this group has obstructed the city’s main avenue. State Police’s anti-riot agents once again arrived on the scene to persuade the protestors to cease their demonstration and clear the roadways, employing cranes and tow trucks in some instances to remove protestors’ vehicles from the highway.
The situation was tense, with protestors expressing their anger and engaging in heated exchanges with the police, though these confrontations remained limited to shouting and shoving.
After six hours, without establishing a dialogue or closing the verification center, the protestors departed. However, they left with a warning of future demonstrations and threats to block major roadways in the days to come.
