Two More Puerto Vallarta Beaches Are Awarded Blue Flags

Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – In the upcoming 2023-2024 season, Puerto Vallarta is set to host six beaches awarded with the Blue Flag accreditation, an esteemed international recognition for high environmental and quality standards.

The Blue Flag committee has reconfirmed the status for four previously certified beaches while conferring this prestigious title to two new beaches located in the Marina Vallarta area. These new additions will officially receive their designations in July.

Last year saw Puerto Vallarta regain two of these highly sought-after certifications. This year, the beaches of Camarones, Palmares, Playa de Oro, and Sheraton successfully maintained their status following thorough assessments.

In a commendable advancement, two new applications were submitted from the Marriott and Westin hotel beaches, both situated in Marina Vallarta. Successfully meeting the stringent requirements, these beaches will officially join the ranks of the Blue Flag accredited beaches from July 1st, bringing the total in Puerto Vallarta to six. Joaquín Díaz Ríos, Executive Director of the Foundation for Environmental Education México (FEE México), has confirmed this development.

The beaches are due to receive their physical Blue Flag accreditations in a ceremony to be held in the city during the second half of the year.

On Thursday, May 25th, all newly approved beaches, marinas, and boats globally will be unveiled for the first time, having received the Blue Flag certification for the new season.

It’s important to note that the Blue Flag certification adds significant value to service providers, tourist sites, or destinations by enhancing their appeal to visitors. It’s for this reason that initiatives like Blue Flag are highly advocated for, as they foster an increased awareness among tourists and locals about the importance of ecosystems, particularly coastal systems.
