14th Annual Ceviche and Aguachile Festival to Take Over Puerto Vallarta with International Flair

PUERTO VALLARTA – It’s all about vibrant flavors, exciting cooking, and culinary camaraderie this coming Saturday, July 29, when the 14th edition of the Ceviche and Aguachile Festival kicks off in Puerto Vallarta. The festival, set to be a showcase of gastronomic diversity, will feature at least 12 local restaurants presenting a mouth-watering selection of around 50 varieties of ceviche and aguachile.

During a press conference held on Wednesday, the director of Tourism and Economic Development, Christian Salvador Preciado Cázares, laid out the thrilling details of the upcoming event. He was joined by the organizers, Edgar Cisneros and Federico Pérez Gordillo, as well as the president of CANIRAC Puerto Vallarta, Jorge Luis Carbajal Diaz.

Cázares highlighted that the festival is in line with Mayor Luis Alberto Michel Rodríguez’s intent to promote events that boost the economic and tourist activity of the port city. He emphasized that such initiatives aim to enhance the attractiveness of visitors’ stays while strengthening the city’s local economy.

The festival is scheduled in the heart of the summer holidays, promising a bustling crowd of an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 attendees. Alongside the diverse culinary offering, guests can look forward to a variety of other activities and, in the spirit of social responsibility, part of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Municipal DIF System to bolster its social programs.

Edgar Cisneros, the festival organizer, revealed that the event would be held at Parque Hidalgo from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participating restaurants from Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas will provide not only a range of ceviche and aguachile but also an assortment of drinks, craft beers, and desserts, promising a festive atmosphere filled with music and fun for all attendees.

Adding an international dimension to the festival, two chefs hailing from Peru and Colombia will be present, judging the culinary contest and awarding prizes for the top three best-prepared specialty dishes. Federico Pérez, an esteemed chef himself, is excited about this inclusion, believing it will bring an extra layer of culinary distinction to the festival.

Jorge Carbajal Díaz, president of CANIRAC Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas, agreed, stating that such festivals enrich the destination with these gastronomic showcases, pleasing both residents and visitors alike. He also emphasized that the festival offers tourists an opportunity to explore and appreciate the unique Vallarta cuisine, further heightened by the presence of international culinary masters.

In closing, Christian Preciado reiterated the administration’s commitment to promoting events like these to position Puerto Vallarta as a gastronomic destination par excellence. With the continuing support of Mayor Michel Rodríguez, the city’s culinary scene is destined to keep shining on the international stage.
