PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – The Tactical Operations Group of the Citizen Security Commission in Puerto Vallarta was busy over the weekend responding to multiple reports resulting from heavy rains and conducting security patrols throughout the municipality.
The officers began their prevention and surveillance tours at 5:00 p.m. on main avenues and delegations across the municipality, with no incidents reported during these initial patrols.
However, at around 10:00 p.m., officers received a call to attend to an incident at the intersection of Clavel and Jazmín streets. There, they found a vehicle had been swept away by the current. The taxi, driven by 53-year-old Mariano Macías, had a passenger, Mrs. Andrea Araceli, 28. With the assistance of Operational Deputy Director Carlos Humberto Arce Villaseñor, as well as Civil Protection and Firefighter elements, they successfully removed the occupants from the vehicle and transported them to safety. The incident resulted only in property damage to the car.
At 10:56 p.m., officers cordoned off the area at the intersection of 20 de Noviembre and España streets in the Villa de Guadalupe neighborhood due to flooding of a stream, preventing any further incidents.
Shortly afterward, officers responded to a call on Morelos street outside the “La Vaquita” bar where an individual experiencing homelessness was acting aggressively towards passers-by. The officers intervened as directed.
At 11:39 p.m., following requests from residents, officers conducted prevention and deterrence patrols in Aralias 1 and 2 parks, removing a couple of men from the streets.
Later in the night, a call led officers to federal highway 200 near El Nogalito, where they found an accident involving a red Kia Rio. On-site, they assisted paramedics in extracting a 32-year-old woman, Sonia H, and a 22-year-old male, Ángel, from the vehicle. Both were transferred to the Regional Hospital by the B-92 Civil Protection and Fire Department unit.
Officers continued their prevention and deterrence patrols into the early morning hours, patrolling main avenues including Francisco Medina Ascencio, Francisco Villa, Los Tules, Mexico, and the downtown area. No further incidents were reported.
The safety of residents and tourists is a priority for the city government. Commissioner for Citizen Security, Rigoberto Flores Parra, continues to motivate and encourage officers to provide increasingly better service for the benefit of the community.
