Puerto Vallarta Authorities to Provide Essential Household Items to Hurricane-Affected Families

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – The municipal government of Puerto Vallarta has announced the distribution of essential household items to the families severely impacted by Hurricane “Lidia” which occurred on October 10. The provisions will be allocated at the Cultural and Sports Center La Lija, with metal sheets for roofing to be handed out on Tuesday the 7th and appliances such as stoves and refrigerators on Wednesday the 8th.

This initiative, aimed at supporting the community’s recovery, was confirmed by Prof. Michel, who underscored the city’s resilience and commitment to aiding those in dire need. “We are still standing to support those who need it most after the hurricane, we will be distributing support starting at 10:30 a.m. in La Lija because together we will overcome this adversity,” he stated. The distribution will specifically target the households listed in the registry compiled by the Social Development management team.

The diligent efforts by the local leadership, including visits to the nation’s capital and the state capital, have been instrumental in procuring these supports, which are now coming to fruition.

Evangelina Delgado Rivera, the head of the agency responsible for the social aid, detailed that a census had identified 1,495 homes affected by the hurricane. The distribution of sheets will be precisely to 800 families that have been pre-selected based on the census, with the remaining support to be dispersed on the subsequent day. Delgado Rivera emphasized the thorough record-keeping intended to ensure no registered family misses out on the support.

On Saturday, the mayor attended the reception of sheets and mattresses, essential items that promise to offer substantial relief to the families affected. Preceding this, stoves and refrigerators were received, set for distribution to those in need.

Concurrently, various sectors of the municipal government are relentlessly working to clear the debris, including fallen branches and trees, left in the wake of Hurricane “Lidia.”

The community’s solidarity and the government’s prompt action reflect a strong collective spirit in the face of natural disasters, ensuring that support and resources are directed to where they are most needed in the aftermath. The municipal efforts underline a commitment to the prompt and efficient rehabilitation of the areas struck by the calamity, striving to restore normalcy for the residents of Puerto Vallarta.
