The findings, derived from an analysis of over 3.1 million travel plans, indicate a growing preference for international travel among U.S. holidaymakers.
The annual survey, which examined round-trip flights originating from U.S. airports between December 16 and 29, highlighted a significant shift in travel trends. International trips now account for 21 percent of bookings, nearly doubling from 11 percent in the previous year. This surge underscores the increasing allure of global destinations, with Mexico’s beaches, including those in Puerto Vallarta, ranking high above other popular locales like the Bahamas, France, and Aruba.

He attributed this to Puerto Vallarta’s unique blend of warm beaches, rich cultural heritage, and renowned hospitality, which collectively offer a perfect escape from the winter chill. “Our city is not just about the inviting climate; it also boasts a plethora of activities and world-class gastronomy, making it a haven for those seeking exceptional experiences,” Villaseñor commented.
Further boosting Puerto Vallarta’s appeal is its excellent connectivity. The Mexican Central Pacific destination is served by over 40 direct air routes, significantly enhancing accessibility for North American visitors. This extensive network operates to and from the city’s International Airport, contributing to a notable increase in international passenger traffic.
