“Fortunately, we are doing very well,” stated Dávalos Peña. “We have the statistical numbers for the last week from the DATATUR platform, which is responsible for collecting hotel occupancy data. Here in Puerto Vallarta, we have an occupancy rate of 65% during the week and up to 70% on the weekend. This indicates that we have good occupancy rates even though it is not yet the summer season or vacation time.”
The DATATUR report reveals that the average hotel occupancy rate across Mexico for week 24, which includes June 10 to 16, 2024, was 56.9% in 12 selected destinations. This figure represents a slight increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous week. Notably, Puerto Vallarta exceeded the national average with a recorded occupancy rate of 67.4%.
Engineer Dávalos Peña expressed optimism regarding the forthcoming vacation period. “We are hopeful that during the upcoming holidays, we will see even better occupancy rates. We are also looking forward to November and December, the high season, when Canadians and North Americans come to enjoy our climate.”
The consistent and robust occupancy rates in Puerto Vallarta are indicative of its enduring appeal as a premier tourist destination. Despite not yet entering the peak summer vacation period, the city is attracting a significant number of visitors, contributing to its economic vitality and reinforcing its reputation as a favored getaway.
As the summer season approaches, Puerto Vallarta is poised to welcome even more tourists, eager to experience its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere. The optimistic outlook for the holiday season and the anticipated high occupancy rates during the peak months highlight the city’s significant role in the tourism industry of Jalisco and Mexico as a whole.
