Puerto Vallarta is preparing to welcome the prestigious Mexico Open at VidantaWorld for the fourth consecutive year as local authorities and event organizers convened for an initial planning session. The meeting, led by Cabinet Coordinator Andrés González Palomera, took place following directives from Municipal President Luis Munguía to ensure that all necessary support is in place for the upcoming tournament, scheduled to take place from February 20 to 23, 2025.
During this initial round of discussions, tournament organizers requested assistance from the Municipal Government in areas related to promotion, public outreach, security, and official permitting. The Mexico Open at VidantaWorld, recognized as one of the most significant stops on the PGA Tour, is anticipated to draw thousands of domestic and international visitors to the region, resulting in a sizable economic impact and extensive global exposure for the Puerto Vallarta brand.
Event Director Ricardo Cortés emphasized the importance of municipal cooperation in raising awareness and ensuring a seamless execution. In addition to the permit processes and coordination with agencies including Civil Protection and Firefighters, Citizen Security, Registry and Licenses, and the Municipal Treasury, Cortés underscored the value of municipal promotional efforts. He requested support in placing posters and roll-up banners in approved areas, from the city’s tourism office and visitor information modules to facilities under the Municipal Sports Council (Comude) and other local sports institutions.
González Palomera reaffirmed the Municipal Government’s willingness to facilitate the tournament’s requirements, ensuring that all mandated protocols are followed. By working together, officials and organizers aim to maintain the tournament’s high safety standards, streamline necessary approvals, and create a welcoming environment for spectators, participants, and visiting professionals.
As preparations continue, both the Municipal Government and event organizers look forward to solidifying Puerto Vallarta’s status as a prime sports tourism destination. By providing logistical support and simplifying administrative procedures, local authorities aim to elevate the visitor experience and help ensure that the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld remains a standout event in the international golfing calendar.
