Having trouble staying logged in

We provide a tech support questionnaire at the bottom of this page that you may use if you have already tried all the suggestions on this page.

Having trouble staying logged in?

Short answer: If the site keeps asking you to log in, your browser is not saving the “remember me” cookie, or you’re opening the story on a different version of our site. Here’s how to fix it.

Before jumping in: If possible, try logging in and reading news from another device. If you are on a computer, try using a phone instead. If you are on a phone, try a computer (laptop, desktop, tablet, or even a different phone). In 98% of cases, using a new device will resolve the issue, confirming that the problem lies with a specific device setup. In that case, you can troubleshoot the device you are having issues with using the steps below.

Step 1 — Open the story in your main browser

This is the most common!

If you click a link inside Facebook, X (Twitter), Gmail, or another app on your phone, it may open in that app’s built-in browser, which can cause your login information to be forgotten. Those apps allow you to view pages through their “window,” but you are not actually on our website, so we can not authenticate your login.

If you clicked a link to our website from your phone in Gmail, Facebook, or X apps, this is likely your issue; you are not on our website, but viewing it through a window. Here is how you can fix that.

  • Find the share or ••• menu and choose Open in Safari (iPhone/iPad) or Open in Chrome (Android).
  • Then, log in once on our website and check the ‘Remember me’ box.

Screenshot below: The Left side shows how it looks when you are viewing our page inside a third-party app. Look for the three dots (circled in red below, but will not be circled on your phone). The right side: After clicking the three dots, choose “Run in Chrome” (or Safari, or whatever you have set as your device’s default browser).

Using the Gmail app? Here’s how to make our stories open in your regular browser.

On Android: open Gmail → Menu (☰) → SettingsGeneral settings and turn off “Open web links in Gmail.” Then check your phone’s default browser at SettingsAppsDefault appsBrowser app.

On iPhone/iPad: set your default browser in SettingsAppsDefault AppsBrowser; then in Gmail → SettingsDefault appsBrowser, choose Default browser app.

Quick tip: if a link still opens inside Gmail, press and hold the link and tap Open Link to force it into your browser.

Step 2 — Make sure cookies are allowed

Cookies are small files that keep you logged in. Please allow them for our site.

  • iPhone/iPad (Safari)
    • Settings → Safari → turn Block All Cookies off.
    • Turn Private Browsing off (tap the tabs button, tap “Private,” switch to regular).
    • Return to our site, log in, and check Remember me.
  • Android (Chrome)
    • Chrome → ⋮ → SettingsSite settingsCookies → choose Allow cookies.
    • If you see Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows, turn that off.
    • Return to our site, log in, and check Remember me.
  • Windows/Mac (Chrome)
    • ⋮ → SettingsPrivacy and securityCookies and other site data → choose Allow all cookies (or Block third-party cookies, which is fine).
    • Make sure Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows is off.
    • Go back to our site, log in, and check Remember me.
  • Mac (Safari)
    • Safari → SettingsPrivacyBlock all cookies must be unchecked.
    • Make sure you’re not using Private Browsing (File → New Private Window should be left alone).
    • Return to our site, log in, and check Remember me.
  • Windows (Edge)
    • ⋯ → SettingsPrivacy, search, and servicesCookies and site permissionsManage and delete cookiesAllow sites to save and read cookie data on.
    • Turn Clear cookies and data when you close the browser off.

Step 3 — Open the same web address every time

Our site works best at https://www.vallartadaily.com/. If you see http:// (no s) or a different address (without www), please change it to the exact address above and bookmark it.

Step 4 — If it still logs you out

  • Ensure your phone or computer’s date and time are accurate and set to update automatically.
  • Please disable ad-blockers or privacy blockers for our site only.
  • Try using a different browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox).
  • As a last step, clear only our site’s cookies (not all cookies) and log in again:
    • Visit our site → click the lock icon next to the address → Cookies or Site settingsClear data.

Still stuck?

Please complete the form below. These are all the questions we would need to ask you before we can offer you advice. It is essential to note that thousands of subscribers log into VallartaDaily.com without issue, and we have no reports of widespread problems at this time. Therefore, the issue you are experiencing is likely due to a specific browser setup that is unique to you. But let us see if we can help you identify where your issue might be originating. Keep your help request friendly. Abusive messages and threats will be directed to our trash and will not be addressed.
