Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, June 16, 2026 – Part of an exterior balcony ceiling collapsed Monday at the Blue Chairs hotel in Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romántica, damaging parked vehicles and forcing a partial street closure near Playa Los Muertos.
The collapse was reported around 12:30 p.m. Local reporting on the incident said three vehicles were damaged. A separate local video report placed the count at two, so PVDN is treating the final damage count as unconfirmed until municipal authorities release a formal report.
No injuries were reported in the first accounts. Protección Civil personnel were reported at the scene to check the structure and keep the immediate area clear.
Collapse reported near Los Muertos Beach
The hotel is near Los Muertos Beach and the pier, in one of the busiest parts of Emiliano Zapata. The property lists its address as Malecón 4, inside the Zona Romántica.
The area mixes hotel entrances, parked vehicles, beach access, narrow streets, and heavy pedestrian traffic. PVDN’s Romantic Zone guide describes the neighborhood as one of Puerto Vallarta’s most active walkable districts.
Initial reports said part of the structure detached first. More ceiling material came down minutes later. Authorities partially closed the street while responders checked the site for any further risk.
Damage count still unconfirmed
PVDN found no publicly available municipal statement by Tuesday morning confirming the cause, the final vehicle count, or whether the hotel is subject to a follow-up structural inspection.
There was also no official finding linking the collapse to weather, maintenance, construction work, building age, or any single cause. The cause should not be assumed without a technical review.
