The outage affected users in Solidaridad, the municipality where Playa del Carmen is located, as well as Cozumel. Residents began reporting interruptions late Sunday night, with some areas losing service around 10 p.m.
CFE later identified the main failure as a problem at the Playa del Carmen substation. The agency said a 115 kV bus went out of operation at 4:56 a.m. Monday, affecting the local power supply in both municipalities.
Service was restored gradually during the morning. Early updates indicated a partial recovery, but CFE later reported that power had been restored to all affected users.
