A new City Club Cancun store lands on Avenida Huayacán on September 18, backed by a 269 million-peso investment, 9,495 square meters of floor space, and 161 direct jobs. The opening marks the brand’s second location in the city and its 41st nationwide. Beyond bulk staples, the store adds an optician, a show-kitchen with hot dishes, and delivery or pickup for members. The move caps a summer of retail announcements in Cancún, including an 800-million-peso “multicomercial” planned for 2026—together signaling a faster build-out of services along Huayacán.
City Club Cancun
City Club will open a new warehouse club on Avenida Huayacán on Wednesday, September 18, after investing 269 million pesos in the site. The store spans 9,495 square meters and will create 161 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs, according to the company. It is the second City Club in Cancún, the third in Quintana Roo, and brings the chain to 41 locations nationwide.
The opening date was confirmed publicly by the company and executives, who also framed Huayacán as the corridor with the strongest growth in recent years—consistent with the avenue’s ongoing residential and commercial expansion.
What the new store adds
The Huayacán club debuts a few experience upgrades: a specialized optician, and a show-kitchen module in the food area, preparing hot dishes such as paella, pasta, and teppanyaki. The company says it will feature a larger lineup of its Member’s Choice private label and exclusive launches in tech and white goods during the second half of the year.
Members can shop online with delivery to home or pickup, supported by City Club on both its website and mobile app. This is particularly relevant for households and small businesses that are increasingly combining in-store bulk runs with scheduled pickups.
City Club reports 161 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs tied to the opening. Local recruitment tied to the “Sucursal Huayacán” has also been underway through municipal job-placement channels, signaling the ramp-up toward opening week.
Retail landscape in Cancún
The Huayacán opening places City Club into a market already served by Costco and several Sam’s Club locations across the city, where membership clubs compete on bulk pricing, private labels, and small-business services. Costco operates on Avenida Kabah, while Sam’s has multiple clubs, including Kabah and Kukulcán. That competition should sharpen promotions and delivery options heading into the year’s final retail push.
City Club’s investment lands in the same quarter that Cien Grupo Inmobiliario announced a separate 800-million-peso “multicomercial” for downtown Cancún, slated to start in 2026. The project combines a modern marketplace—emphasizing “Hecho en México” products—with medical, tech, and food services. Taken together, just these two projects account for roughly 1.069 billion pesos in new retail-related investment for Cancún between late 2025 and early 2026.
Why Huayacán, and why now
Avenida Huayacán has been a magnet for new housing and commercial services as development pushes outward from central Cancún. Officials and local reporting describe the corridor’s quick build-out; the addition of a large-format warehouse club fits that pattern by anchoring everyday goods, optics, and prepared foods closer to new subdivisions and business parks. For nearby neighborhoods, the store offers an alternative to crossing town for bulk shopping; for small businesses, it opens another source for inventory and delivery.
