Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Thanks to a robust influx of international tourists, particularly from Canada, Puerto Vallarta has successfully maintained a steady flow of visitors throughout the typically slow season. This sustained tourism activity underscores the city’s enduring appeal and its strategic efforts in tourism promotion.
Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, the director of the Public Trust for Tourism Promotion and Advertising of Puerto Vallarta (Fidetur Vallarta), emphasized the positive impact of group arrivals and various events in May. These activities significantly contributed to maintaining tourist numbers in this popular beach destination.
“In May, we experienced a strong season in terms of group tourism, with numerous conferences, conventions, and sporting events driving high occupancy rates. We hosted two major cheerleading events and a football event, among other sporting activities, all of which played a critical role in keeping our hotels full,” Villaseñor Nolasco stated.
He further noted that several hotels even had full bookings extending into June, attributed to ongoing congresses, conventions, and sporting events.
“The great advantage of Puerto Vallarta, unlike other beach destinations in the country, is our excellent road connectivity in addition to air travel. This connectivity boosts our weekend visitor numbers significantly. Whether for leisure or other reasons, the relatively high temperatures across the country drive more people to choose our city. Fortunately, we haven’t experienced severe heat waves, thanks to the ocean’s temperature,” Villaseñor Nolasco explained.
As the summer vacation period approaches, Fidetur Vallarta remains committed to promoting the destination. Villaseñor Nolasco highlighted ongoing efforts at consumer-oriented expos held in Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Chihuahua, and León. These promotional activities aim to attract visitors in the weeks leading up to the summer holidays.
With its strategic initiatives and diverse event offerings, Puerto Vallarta continues to demonstrate resilience and attractiveness, ensuring that tourism remains a vital and vibrant part of the local economy.
