A spring festival with a community focus
Organizers in Los Cabos have confirmed the 9th Dibufestival del Papalote for Saturday, April 18, 2026. It will be held on Playa El Tule. The announcement was made at a press conference on March 4, 2026. The nonprofit group behind the event says entry will be free. The program is aimed at children, parents, and anyone visiting the area. April is widely treated as Mes de la Niñez in Mexico. The festival is also tied to Good Deeds Day, a volunteer movement active in more than 100 countries. That link sets an environmental tone for the day. Organizers say the goal is community time in an outdoor public space. They have pointed to beach cleanups and community donations as examples. The festival has returned to El Tule for years, citing space and wind. Organizers say they are planning for a larger turnout than last year. What’s planned on April 18

There will also be a hands-on workshop for children. They can build and decorate their own kites on site. Other children’s activities are planned, including drawing and painting sessions. Organizers say free materials will be handed out at 12:00 p.m. The workshop is expected to run until 3:00 p.m.. After that, those kites will be flown together on the beach. Organizers are aiming for scale. They say they hope to see more than 300 kites in the air at once, if the wind allows. Live music is part of the plan. Mariana Mallol is scheduled to perform with the Coro Polifónico de Los Cabos. A kite contest and awards segment are planned for the close. Small vendor booths are expected for food and ready-made kites.
Getting to El Tule and planning your day
Playa El Tule sits on the Los Cabos Tourist Corridor between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Access is typically marked at Puente Los Tules, near kilometer 16.2. Drivers should expect sand at the entry. Local guides often recommend four-wheel drive for that reason. If you do not have it, plan a drop-off at the bridge and walk in.
